Local knowledge
Built for the heat, the monsoon and the boom-era panel.
Regal Electric of AZ serves homes across the southeast Valley, from San Tan Valley and Florence in Pinal County to Queen Creek, Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa in Maricopa County.
The houses
Most of San Tan Valley, Queen Creek and Gilbert was built from the 1990s on, with modern wiring but builder panels that filled up fast. Central Mesa and older Chandler go back to the 1950s through the 1970s, with original panels and ungrounded outlets.
The power
SRP serves most of the East Valley, the City of Mesa runs its own utility in central Mesa, and APS serves parts of Pinal County. Your bill says which one to call for outages and meters.
The paperwork
San Tan Valley is unincorporated, so permits come from Pinal County. Queen Creek, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Florence issue their own. Contractors are licensed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
The weather
Summer heat loads every circuit that runs AC, pool pumps and freezers, and the June to September monsoon brings lightning, wind, dust and outages. Surge protection and good outdoor GFCIs pay off.

Straight answers
Electrical questions.
What should I do if I smell burning or see sparks from an outlet or panel?
If you can do it safely, turn off the breaker for that circuit, or the main breaker, and then call a licensed electrician. If there is fire or smoke, get everyone out and call 911.
Don’t keep resetting a breaker that trips with a burning smell, and don’t touch a panel that is hot, buzzing loudly or wet. A burning smell usually means a connection is overheating, and it can keep getting worse while the circuit stays on.
Why does my breaker keep tripping in the summer?
A breaker that trips on hot afternoons is usually doing its job: the circuit is overloaded, or something on it, often an air conditioner, pool pump or garage freezer, is drawing more than it should. Repeated trips need a diagnosis, not a bigger breaker.
Breakers can also wear out, and loose connections heat up under heavy summer loads. An electrician can measure the actual load, check the connections and tell you whether the fix is a repair, a dedicated circuit or a panel change.
When is monsoon season in Arizona, and how does it affect home electrical?
Arizona’s monsoon season officially runs from June 15 to September 30. It brings lightning, high winds, dust storms and sudden outages, and the surges and power bumps that come with them.
The common aftermath for electricians: damaged electronics and appliance boards, GFCIs that trip during rain, outdoor outlets and fixtures that took on water, and service drops pulled loose by wind.
Can any ceiling box hold a heavy chandelier?
No. Standard boxes are rated to support fixtures up to 50 pounds. A heavier chandelier needs a box listed and marked for that weight or support that is independent of the box, and ceiling fans need a fan-rated box.
Crystal chandeliers can be surprisingly heavy once all the crystals are hung. Check the weight in the instructions before the install day so the right box and support are ready.
What does it take to install a Level 2 EV charger at home?
A Level 2 charger needs a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized for the charger, typically 40 amps for a 32-amp charger or 60 amps for a 48-amp charger, and a panel with the capacity and space for it. A load check comes first.
Most garages in newer East Valley homes are a short run from the panel, which keeps the install simple. Both SRP and APS offer rate plans that reward charging off-peak, so check your plan.
How do I check an electrician’s license in Arizona?
Use the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) contractor search at roc.az.gov. Look up the company name or license number and confirm that the license is active and that its classification covers electrical work.
Regal Electric Of AZ LLC holds ROC license 335437, class R-11 (residential electrical), active as of October 2026. The ROC record also shows complaint history and the qualifying party.
